Nice start, but needs more thought to design
Im lowering my rating from 3 to 2 stars for a variety of reasons. First, although this was the first tides app with an iOS 7 design, Tide Graph has now been updated and is a far more useful app. At the same time, this app feels like its been abandoned because it hasnt had a single update despite some glaring 1.0 issues.
This app needs more thought to the layout and presentation of information on screen. In an app like this, you should be able to get all the info you need in a quick glance at the screen without having to squint to read itty bitty text (like the tide location) or read all the labels to figure out what various readings are.
The photo is also an annoying distraction. There should be an option to remove it, or to choose your own, or to use Flickr or some other source to find geographically relevant photos. To see tropical beaches when Im boating in waters off Maine and Nova Scotia is ridiculous. Id rather just have a good information display and lose the photo altogether.
It also suspicious that so many reviews of this app dont comment at all on its function as a tide app and dont even make sense. It looks like there is a lot of padding of the reviews by paid shills.
